BeSafe belt for pregnant women – one belt, two lives During pregnancy, everyone is concerned about the safety and well-being of the unborn child. Many are not aware that an incorrectly positioned car seat belt can pose a danger to the pregnant woman and the unborn child. Research by the Swedish insurance company Folksam and the Chalmers Industriteknik Foundation shows that as many as 4 out of 10 pregnant women fasten their seat belt incorrectly. Increased safety for the unborn child In the event of a collision, an adult weighs between 3 and 5 tonnes. The baby is positioned at the front of the abdomen and is therefore exposed to significant forces. To protect the baby from possible injuries caused by the car seat belt, the BeSafe belt for pregnant women ensures that the lap section of the seat belt is correctly positioned across the pregnant woman’s hips. The BeSafe belt for pregnant women does not interfere with the safety function of the car seat belt, but helps to correctly position the lap section of the belt to protect the unborn child. Comfort for the expectant mother The BeSafe belt for pregnant women increases comfort for the expectant mother by reducing uncomfortable pressure on the abdomen and bladder during travel. The BeSafe belt for pregnant women may be used from the second month of pregnancy onwards. It has been tested in accordance with ECE R16.
